MACERICH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The Macerich Volunteer Program began in 2003 and consists of a volunteer program and a grant program. In 2005, MVP received the Maxi Award for Community Relations from the International Council of Shopping Centers, its top honor in that category. Through MVP, our employees become more connected to our communities and our Company. The Macerich Volunteer Program is a great example of our commitment to giving back to our communities.

Since its inception, over 105,000 hours have been volunteered by our employees through MVP at non-profit organizations that include, Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs, The Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House Charities and the American Cancer Society. Our grant program has awarded nearly 2,000 grants totaling over $890,000 to organizations in the areas of education, humanities, civic, arts and health, including such programs and organizations as Make a Wish Foundation, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, American Red Cross, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the John Wayne Cancer Institute.

Volunteer Program.
The focus of our volunteer program is to encourage each employee to volunteer at designated non-profit organizations that benefit the communities that we serve. Each full time Macerich employee receives a volunteer time bank of 24 hours a year to volunteer at certain non-profit organizations that are chosen by the respective mall and office teams. Through this volunteer program, Macerich strengthens its ties to our communities. A MVP Volunteer Day is also set each year so that our malls and offices can designate a half day of volunteering as a group at local non-profit organizations. Click here for a list of some of our designated volunteer partners.

Grant Program.
Our grant program consists of an individual recognition grant program and a special events grant program. The individual recognition grant program is designed to acknowledge the existing volunteer efforts of our Macerich employees throughout our communities. The grants are awarded yearly based on the number of hours an employee volunteers at a qualified non-profit organization. This grant program recognizes our employees who volunteer their time, talents and energies to various non-profit organizations serving our communities.
